David West Media

My name is David West. I am a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. I am majoring in Digital Media Innovation, with a minor in political science. I am originally from South Carolina, but have lived in Texas for years.

I am currently the Assistant Multimedia Editor for the University Star in San Marcos. I work with our photographers and illustrators to provide all of the media for both versions of the Star, print and digital.

Most of my free time is spent with my kids, either heading to the beach or trying to find water somewhere. I enjoy live music and attend ACL Festival every year as a volunteer with Love Hope Strength Foundation. SXSW is one of my favorite times of the year and one of the best perks of living near Austin.

Interesting things about me

I have met Donald Trump. Once in the early 90's at a Cracker Barrel in Georgia. True story
I have been to North Korea. As a soldier stationed in Seoul, I visited the DMZ and walked across the border. I walked back after a few seconds.
I have amazing kids. If nothing else they are very photogenic and put up with my directing on shoots.
